This active lighthouse station was established in 1833. It is located in the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge on Assateague Island.
It was automated in 1933.

Although this is not a lighthouse station, it does mark the landing for visitors. It is located in Portsmouth and is a welcome site, when traveling by ferry from Norfolk.

This lighthouse station was established in 1791. Made of sandstone, with a brick lining, it is located on the U.S. Army base, Fort Story, Virginia.
It was discontinued in 1881.

New Cape Henry Lighthouse, Virginia
This active lighthouse station was established in 1881. Made of cast iron, it is also located on the U.S. Army base, Fort Story, Virginia, only a few hundred feet from the original. It has been operated by the U.S. Coast Guard since 1939, but it is unaccessible to the public.
